The engineer who runs beyond the limits
Known as “the trail engineer,” Franco Collé is a unique case in the ultrarunning scene: capable of reconciling a professional career as an engineer with top-level performances in the world’s toughest competitions.
Originally from Gressoney-Saint-Jean, Collé has developed a deep connection with his home mountains, becoming one of the icons of the Tor des Géants. He has won the TOR330 four times (2014, 2018, 2021, 2023), setting a historic record for victories and clocking one of the race’s most iconic times in 2023: 66:39:16.
A record later surpassed in 2025 by Victor Richard, but which remains a milestone in the history of the competition.
Resistance, management and lucidity
Collé’s feats aren’t explained by physical strength alone. His ability to tackle multi-day races hinges on extremely clear-headed management of crises, pace, and especially sleep, thanks to the strategic use of micro-sleeps.
Alongside him, also in life, is Giuditta Turini, a high-level athlete in the ultra-trail scene, with whom he shares passion, vision and daily life.
Towards the TOR450 – Tor des Glaciers
During the evening, Collé will also talk about his next goal: participation in the Tor des Glaciers (TOR450), the longest and most challenging race of the TORX circuit, scheduled from 11 to 19 September in the Aosta Valley.
An extreme challenge, representing the natural evolution of a sporting path always oriented beyond the limits.
An evening to enter the heart of ultra trail
“The Tor is a special race: the strongest doesn’t always win, but rather the one who manages to go fast and overcome the problems that inevitably arise.”
— Franco Collé
The meeting will be an opportunity to hear firsthand the stories, strategies, and behind-the-scenes insights into a discipline where mental endurance and adaptability make as much (and more) a difference than physical preparation.
The evening is organized in collaboration with Kailas Fuga.
