Merrell introduces the Harris Tweed® Collection, a limited-edition capsule created in collaboration with Harris Tweed Hebrides, the renowned Scottish textile producer. The project reimagines some of the brand’s heritage models by incorporating the iconic Harris Tweed® fabric, crafted in the Outer Hebrides. Here, natural wool and the local environmental conditions combine to create a material with a distinctive texture, lending a unique character to every silhouette.

The collaboration between Merrell and Harris Tweed stems from the meeting of two entities deeply connected to the outdoors and the land. On one hand, Merrell is founded on the belief that time spent in the open air can transform people; on the other, Harris Tweed has its roots in the traditions of the communities of the Scottish Outer Hebrides, where sheep and virgin wool are an integral part of the local culture.

The production process reflects this connection to the land: the wool is dyed as raw fiber and spun on the islands, then hand-woven in the homes of local artisans. The color combinations are inspired by the surrounding landscapes—heaths, mosses, lakes, mountains, and coastlines overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The result is a fabric in which nature, traditional craftsmanship, and local identity merge into a material with an authentic character.

Merrell x Harris Tweed: artisanal tradition and outdoor design

For 45 years, Merrell has been developing footwear designed for outdoor performance, with an unwavering focus on durability, comfort, and functionality. This collaboration with Harris Tweed celebrates that heritage by incorporating a material renowned for its robustness and longevity. The capsule collection features the Relay Lace SE (for men and women), the Jungle Moc (for men), and the unisex Chameleon Redux SE and Moab 2 Slide SE—all reimagined through the rich texture and distinctive hues of Scottish tweed.

“Superior quality and artisanal craftsmanship are part of our DNA and have always been fundamental to how we design Merrell products. That is why our connection with Harris Tweed came about so naturally,” said Ian Cobb, Vice President of Design at Merrell. “It is a material built to last, yet it also possesses an extraordinary depth of color, texture, and personality. Bringing these qualities to some of our most iconic silhouettes has allowed us to celebrate what people know and love about Merrell, while simultaneously offering a fresh, contemporary take on each model.”
