F££T FUND: from “feet pics” to the outdoor world
With an ironic and deliberately provocative tone, the project draws on a phenomenon now widespread online: “feet pics“—a market projected by Statista to reach a value of €2.3 billion by the end of the year. Columbia Sportswear, however, reimagines this concept, shifting the focus from the digital trend to hikers’ feet and the role technical footwear plays in protecting them during outdoor activities.
F££T FUND will launch on September 15, 2026, via a series of teasers posted on TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat. Subsequently, outdoor-focused creators will share screenshots of seemingly unusual private conversations with Columbia, in which the brand asks them to share photos of their feet. These authentic messages will serve to gradually introduce the new campaign’s concept.
James Norbury will explain the initiative through a decidedly unconventional unboxing. In the video, he will unbox a pair of the new Peakfreak™ shoes using only his feet—from using his toes to pull the shoes out to removing the wrapping paper. This creator-led activation, rolled out across various EMEA markets, will lead to the official launch of F££T FUND and the announcement that people can get paid for their photos.
How to participate in F££T FUND
The mechanism is simple. To participate, you will need to send Columbia Sportswear a direct message containing a photo of your bare feet taken outdoors during a hike.
Selected images will be rewarded with £ 135, paid directly by Columbia. This amount is sufficient to purchase a pair of Peakfreak™ shoes—footwear developed by the brand to ensure comfort and protection during hikes.
The selected photographs, however, will go beyond the cash prize. The shots will be featured in the “Hall of Feet,” a social media gallery showcasing the feet that have conquered trails, elevation gains, and kilometers in the great outdoors.

Columbia Peakfreak™: putting feet at the heart of the campaign
“We designed the new Peakfreak™ to offer comfort to hikers during long treks, on challenging terrain, and in unpredictable conditions. But instead of simply talking about our innovations in cushioning, traction, and support, we decided to put the spotlight on what this shoe was created to protect: feet,” said Issam Djemel, Europe Footwear Director.
Ant Nelson, Chief Creative Officer at adam&eve\TBWA, added:
Hikers proudly share photos of peaks and spectacular vistas, yet the feet that carried them there rarely receive due recognition. F££T FUND was created to shift this perspective. Moving away from the polished, serious conventions of outdoor marketing, Columbia once again opts for an unexpected approach, demonstrating how its products are truly “Engineered For Whatever.”
