The campaign to discover the area has been extended until June 21st.
The “Valtellina Terra d’Emozioni: Unusual Experiences, DOP and IGP Taste” campaign, promoted by the Valtellina Quality Agri-food District in collaboration with APF Valtellina and with the support of the Province of Sondrio, will continue until June 21st. The positive response from restaurateurs has encouraged the Quality Agri-Food District, APF Valtellina, and the Province of Sondrio to extend the project to selected establishments that showcase Valtellina’s gastronomic heritage. Every weekend until June 21st, it will be possible to taste the region’s top PDO and PGI products: from Bresaola della Valtellina PGI to Valtellina Casera PDO and Bitto PDO cheeses, from Pizzoccheri della Valtellina to Mela di Valtellina PGI, and Valtellina DOCG, DOC, and IGT wines.

Authentic experiences between nature, culture and well-being
Through the web app available at valtellinadopigp.it, the project offers tourists and visitors a rich program of authentic experiences designed to promote physical and mental well-being, highlighting five key elements: Food, Tranquility, Territory, Relaxed Time, and Traditions.
Among the options are walks through the famous terraced vineyards of Valtellina, considered among the largest in Italy and among the most picturesque in Europe, with over 2,500 kilometers of dry stone walls recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You can also visit the Menaglio Mill and participate in workshops dedicated to buckwheat and pizzoccheri.
The route also includes stops of great historical and cultural interest, such as Piuro, known as the “Pompeii of the Alps,” tastings of typical dishes prepared in traditional lavéc, the Roman baths of Bormio, and numerous outdoor activities, including paragliding, rafting, kayaking, and crossing the Ponte nel Cielo, the second highest Tibetan bridge in Europe.
The Stelvio Pass is also worth a visit, the highest mountain pass in Italy with its 48 hairpin bends at an altitude of 2,758 meters. It is an iconic destination for cyclists and motorcyclists and the gateway to the Stelvio National Park, the largest of Italy’s historic parks and still the largest in the Alpine region.

An increasingly attractive territory
Valtellina continues to demonstrate its attractiveness. In 2025, the region attracted over 4.5 million tourists, thanks to an offering that combines nature, certified agri-food products, local traditions, and authentic experiences.
Completing the project are 20 audio guides and immersive podcasts dedicated to Valtellina’s iconic sites, flavors, and traditions. All experiences are geolocalized via QR codes to make them easier for visitors to access. A fold-out map is also available at tourist information points and participating venues.

Claudio Palladi: “Valtellina knows how to work as a team.”
The strong interest in “Valtellina Terra d’Emozioni,” also presented at TuttoFood, confirms the region’s ability to present itself in a cohesive and coordinated manner, showcasing its agri-food excellence, landscape, and local identity. The journey initiated with the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympics is also leaving a tangible legacy in terms of collaboration between institutions, tourism operators, restaurateurs, and producers. This initiative demonstrates that Valtellina, when working together, can build attractive projects capable of generating widespread value.
Claudio Palladi, president of the Valtellina Taste of Emotion Quality Agri-Food District.
Elio Moretti: “A year-round tourism offering”
The extension of the initiative reflects our desire to consolidate a tourism offering that remains attractive year-round. Our experience confirms that the key to success lies in the ability to showcase the region as a harmonious blend of nature, sports, and agri-food culture. As APF Valtellina, we continue to support operators through digital tools that facilitate the convergence of visitor demand and the authentic offerings of our villages and valleys. Today, Valtellina is not just a tourist destination, but a destination of excellence that leverages its identity as a driver of economic and tourism development.
Elio Moretti, president of APF Valtellina.
Fabio Valli: “An experience that combines flavors and local traditions.”
The proposed format has won over the public, and we welcome the decision to extend an initiative that combines food and wine with local promotion. The search for authentic experiences is growing, and this project perfectly meets this need. In addition to sharing pleasant moments around the table while tasting Valtellina specialties, it offers the opportunity to discover or rediscover villages, districts, and vestiges of our past that deserve to be celebrated. Following the success of the first spring edition, this food and wine and cultural initiative will continue to delight visitors and residents into the early summer. In Valtellina, emotions never end.
Fabio Valli, restaurateur and vice president of Federalberghi/Confcommercio Sondrio.
