COLMAR and Ski Austria inaugurate a new collaboration that combines the tradition of international skiing with technical innovation and Italian design. COLMAR will provide athletes and federation staff with technical apparel designed for competitions and outdoor activities, establishing a partnership that focuses on performance, functionality, and stylistic identity.

The agreement brings together two entities with a history deeply rooted in winter sports. On one side is Ski Austria, a leading player in international competition; on the other is COLMAR, which has spent decades building its expertise in skiing through technical research, innovation, and a distinctive design culture.

A story deeply linked to skiing

For COLMAR, this partnership also represents a return to its roots. Founded in Monza in 1923, the family-run company has, over the decades, built a solid relationship with the world of international skiing—collaborating with athletes and federations, and developing technical solutions designed to meet the demands of competition.

Stefano Colombo, CEO of COLMAR and a fourth-generation member of the Colombo family, comments on the agreement as follows:

Heritage meets performance

The new collection stems from research conducted within the COLMAR archives, where photographs, graphics, and designs from the past serve as the starting point for a contemporary reinterpretation of the brand’s identity. The aesthetic codes that have defined the brand’s history are reimagined through dynamic lines and visual solutions conceived for a competitive sporting context.

The project also highlights the identity of Ski Austria through a color palette that incorporates the Federation’s official colors. Red takes center stage, complemented by darker tones and contrasting white details, creating a look that is both recognizable and highly visible on the slopes.

The meeting of these two worlds finds one of its clearest expressions in the race suit, where the Ski Austria “Acon” symbol is featured as a recurring, tone-on-tone graphic motif. This detail helps make the design distinctive, integrating the Federation’s identity into COLMAR’s stylistic language.

From a technical standpoint, the ski jacket is crafted from four-way stretch fabric designed to facilitate freedom of movement; it offers a water column rating of 20,000 mm and a breathability rating of 20,000 g/m²/24h. The construction thus combines protection against the elements with comfort during activities on the snow.

The racing suit, by contrast, uses a highly elastic technical fabric designed to ensure a snug, aerodynamic fit without compromising mobility. This solution addresses the needs of athletes in competition, where every detail can contribute to the quality of their performance.

IN CASE OF SCHNEE

To celebrate the collaboration, COLMAR revisits its iconic claim “In Caso di Neve” [In Case of Snow], transforming it into “IN CASE OF SCHNEE”—a direct reference to the German language and Austrian culture.

In Austria, snow is more than just an environmental condition: it is an integral part of the landscape, the culture, and the nation’s sporting identity. It is an element that defines the country’s relationship with the mountains and with skiing, creating common ground between COLMAR and Ski Austria.

“IN CASE OF SCHNEE” thus becomes a tribute to Austria and to snow—a fundamental element of a sporting culture that continues to find its most authentic expression on the slopes.
