Kilo XTR, who were they created for?

La Sportiva has been a market leader in mountain footwear for years. From climbing shoes to mountaineering boots to ski mountaineering boots, it has accustomed us to often groundbreaking innovations, the result of intense research and development and the desire to respond to the market in a way that is consistent with its DNA.

After Kilo, Kilo XTR also reflects this approach and presents itself on the market with design solutions and material choices that are already setting standards.

Kilo XTR was created for the passionate ski mountaineer who covers the entire season with a significant number of outings, altitude differences of more than 1,000 m and the desire not only to reach the summit in a short time, but at the same time enjoy a pleasant descent, regardless of the type of snow he encounters.

Some data

  • 2 buckles
  • 1,190 g in size 26.5
  • Leg excursion 68°
  • Cuff inclination 12-14°
  • Last (plant width) 101 mm

These are the numbers that define a boot that is agile and fast on the climbs as well as stable and safe on the descents.

Construction

A sense of security and stability are guaranteed by a shell made of Grilamid® Bio Based LF Carbon and a Fiberglass cuff, both extremely robust and lightweight. This is a different choice from the Kilo, which has a shell made of the same material but also uses it in the cuff.

The liner is the well-known and comfortable Ultralon and thanks to the 90° opening between the shell and the cuff, it is always easy to remove, as well as putting the boot on and taking it off.

Shell and cuff closure and ski/walk mechanism

KIlo XTR features the FORCE FLEX System™ cuff closure system to increase flexibility and support when descending and facilitate walking uphill, and for the shell: FORCE Closure System™ for a precise fit and even pressure across the entire foot.

The mechanism for switching from walk to ski mode is the functional Tilt-Lock Lite, very easy to use, even when wearing gloves.

Sole and inserts

S4 Inserts™ make pin engagement easier, even on less than ideal terrain.

The sole has a FriXion Wave Alpine XTR dual compound tread to absorb impacts, prevent snow clogs and ensure grip when moving on rocks and hard snow.
