Marc Paré takes victory in the Single Elimination, while Sarah-Quita Offringa takes a hard-fought victory in the women’s competition

The waves on day seven of the Playa Surf CBbC Hotel Tenerife El Médano Windsurf Grand Slam 2025 were never a problem. However, despite the wind forecast, the wind was rather light early in the day, and the Single Eliminations didn’t resume until 4:00 PM local time. The finals concluded with the two best waves and a jump, with the world’s best having 16 minutes to demonstrate their full potential in head-high waves.

Sarah-Quita Offringa (Starboard / NeilPryde / Maui Ultra Fins) missed out on the podium last year, but this year she’s confident of at least second place after a hard-fought win in the Single Elimination, which put her in the lead with three days to go. The Aruban athlete had the highest-scoring heat of the Single Elimination in the final—14.93 points—and deservedly took first place on the podium. Offringa demonstrated exceptional power in rail-to-rail wave riding, outshining the rest of the competition.

It was clear that Marc Paré meant business today, as even in light winds before the start of the competition, the Spaniard was out fine-tuning his equipment to ensure he left no stone unturned. It paid off, with Paré setting the two highest-scoring heats of the competition—22.33 in the semifinals and 20.39 in the final—deservingly earning the top spot on the podium as he looks to defend his 2024 event title and, perhaps more importantly, close the gap on World Tour leader Marcilio Browne (Goya Windsurfing / MFC). In the final, Paré easily landed the biggest jump of the day, earning 8.27 points for a massive double forward, while a combination of a full rail turn and frontside 360 ​​was more than enough to secure the current event lead.

Meanwhile, Victor Fernandez (Duotone Windsurfing) is confident he’ll maintain his incredible record here in Tenerife, with the 41-year-old having finished on the podium at every event since 2012, which is truly remarkable. The former three-time event champion used all his local knowledge to maximize the potential of every wave, and it was clear he was desperate for a top-three finish after overcoming a double forward in the final to secure second place, at least for now.
