Polartec reinforces sustainable innovation with the Power Shield collection: high-performance fabrics with low environmental impact.

Polartec Power Shield Collection

Polartec, a Milliken & Company brand pioneering innovative and sustainable textile solutions, enhances its Power Shield™ range with new waterproof fabrics that combine superior performance with reduced environmental impact. Made from recycled and plant-derived nylon, the new materials ensure greater durability and improve wearer comfort.

Sustainable materials

Polartec continues to prove that sustainability and high performance can go hand in hand. Thanks to its continuous research, the brand takes sustainable innovation to a new chapter with the expansion of the Power Shield™ collection, which includes the Polartec® Power Shield™ Pro and Polartec® Power Shield™ RPM models.

Polartec

New sustainability standard in the textile industry

Polartec® Power Shield™ Pro is made from Biolon™, a nylon derived from plant sources, which accounts for approximately 45-48% of the nylon content in the membrane, reducing the carbon footprint by 50% compared to traditional Nylon 6.6. This innovative, non-GMO nylon is one of the most sustainable alternatives without compromising performance.

Polartec Power Shield Pro

Polartec® Power Shield™ Pro offers 20K/20K waterproof and breathable protection (20,000 mm water resistance – ISO 811 / 20,000 g/m²/24h breathability – JIS L1099, B1), making it ideal for extremely variable weather conditions.

Polartec Power Shield RPM

Polartec® Power Shield™ RPM, on the other hand, is distinguished by the use of 100% recycled polyester, which is itself recyclable. This fabric is treated with non-PFAS technology, guaranteeing moisture resistance with a water column of 10,000 mm and breathability of 30,000 g/m²/24h. Available in 3 and 2 layer configurations, Power Shield™ RPM is particularly suitable for outdoor sportsmen such as runners, cyclists and golfers, solving the problem of perspiration and reducing the risk by up to 50% compared to other Polartec membranes.

Sustainability and performance: a conscious choice

Polartec’s Power Shield™ family is part of the brand’s sustainability journey. The aim is to increase the use of recycled and organic materials, reducing dependence on fossil fuels and lowering the carbon footprint.

Research first!

In addition to the Power Shield™ line, Polartec continues to develop innovative textile solutions for various sectors, including advanced technologies and flame retardant fabrics.
