A new era for Pila and the Aosta Valley resorts

Thanks to the new connection, pedestrians, hikers, and non-skiers will be able to reach 2,700 meters in just 30 minutes from the center of Aosta, experiencing a mountain open and accessible in every season.

Aosta-Pila-Couis cable car: the new panoramic route

A direct connection up to 2,700 meters

The entire Aosta-Pila-Couis cable car will open in December 2025, replacing two chairlifts and improving the resort’s accessibility. The 10-passenger panoramic cabins will offer a comfortable, smooth ride, filled with spectacular views.

An experience for everyone

The project was born to make the high-altitude panorama an experience accessible not only to skiers, but also to families, travelers, and hikers who want to experience the mountains year-round.

The Star of Pila: unique views and gastronomic excellence

The Stella di Pila will welcome visitors with two complementary souls:

  • Panoramic terraces open to all, true balconies overlooking the Alps.
  • A Panoramic Bistro managed by Skyway Monte Bianco, serving Aosta Valley DOP cuisine reinterpreted in a contemporary way.

A longer winter season: from December 5th to May 3rd

Bike & Ski news

For the first time, Pila is extending its season until May 3, 2025. The offer will combine skiing and snowboarding in the higher areas with mountain biking in the areas near the cable car station, creating a unique mix of snow and springtime outdoor activities.

Sustainability at the heart of the project

The cable car integrates energy efficiency and environmental impact reduction solutions:

  • heat recovery for heating,
  • reuse of rainwater,
  • silent and low-impact Direct Drive motors,
  • EcoDrive system that optimizes consumption by up to 20%.

70 km of slopes and activities for all levels

Pila confirms its vocation as a resort for everyone, with:

  • 70 km of slopes served by 13 lifts,
  • areas for beginners, intermediates and experts,
  • Areaeffe Snowpark for freestyle,
  • routes dedicated to off-piste and ski mountaineering,
  • Completely renovated Fun Slope.

Snow fun for children and families

The Chacard Playground offers bobsleighs, sleds, snow tubing, and safe play areas for little ones, making the mountain a family-friendly environment.

Experiences beyond skiing: the Experience Park

A project that enriches the winter offering with:

  • day and night snowshoeing with dinners at high altitude,
  • beaten pedestrian routes,
  • excursions to villages with tastings,
  • family activities,
  • A unique opportunity to experience both the city and the mountains in the same day thanks to the urban cable car.

A unique territory between Aosta, Gressan and Charvensod

The connection between the city and the high altitude is the destination’s true strength: in just a few minutes, you can go from Roman archaeological sites to panoramic views at 2,700 meters. A mosaic of history, nature, and traditions that finds its fulcrum in Pila.

Flavors and traditions of the Aosta Valley

Local cuisine is an integral part of the winter experience: polenta concia, mountain soups, and DOP products reflect the region’s identity and enrich every day on the slopes.

From rural origins to the Alpine destination of the future

Once a mountain pasture valley, Pila began its transformation in 1949 with the construction of the first chairlift, and in 1957 with the historic Aosta-Pila cable car. Today, it is preparing for a new chapter thanks to the Pila-Couis cable car and the Stella di Pila, symbols of an innovative, sustainable Alpine destination model open to an ever-wider audience.
