Having become an international point of reference over the years, the Ortovox Safety Academy is an ecosystem that combines practical courses, a digital self-learning platform (Safety Academy Lab) and Guide Books, pocket-sized manuals packed with practical advice to always carry with you.
“The success of the new mountaineering courses introduced last year, such as High Alpine Basic and Mountaineering Basic, has encouraged us to expand our offerings to meet ever-growing demand,” says Katia Falezza, Marketing Manager Italy at Ortovox. “For Ortovox, protecting the mountain environment and the people who live there is a mission. For summer 2025, the Ortovox Safety Academy offers over 80 courses in Italy, divided into three thematic areas: glacier mountaineering, rock mountaineering and climbing, in collaboration with seven excellent mountaineering schools:

Mountaineering Basic
An introductory course for beginners to rock and ridge mountaineering in authentic high-altitude environments. Progression techniques, proper rope use, placement of protection, and belay management are among the key topics, alongside fundamentals such as route planning and risk management.

High Alpine Touring Basic
Designed for those who want to take their first steps on glaciers and mixed climbing, the course includes crampon techniques, ice axe and crampon use, rope management, orientation, self-rescue, and fall arrest. Special attention is given to terrain analysis and independent planning in a glacial environment.

Climbing
Climbing courses are divided into three levels—Basic, Advanced, and Alpine Climbing—to guide each participant from their first experience at the crag to technical mountaineering. Participants learn belay techniques, knots, descent maneuvers, route planning, and emergency management.
