The report analyzes the routes uploaded in Italy during 2025, along with the tracks followed via apps, downloaded, or sent to GPS devices. A clear picture emerges: the Bel Paese confirms itself as a true “widespread natural park,” enjoyed year-round and through a wide variety of activities.

In 2025 alone, over 1 million new routes were shared in Italy, bringing the total number of available trails to over 6 million. Added to these are over 2 million new photos, out of a total of 10 million shared across the country, showcasing landscapes, refuges, peaks, and details along the trails.

According to data collected by Wikiloc, the top three most popular trails in Italy in 2025 are mountains, particularly the Dolomites.

1. Tre Croci Pass – Lake Sorapis (Veneto)

The route from Passo Tre Croci to Lake Sorapis, one of the most iconic Alpine lakes, famous for its turquoise color and spectacular views, remains in first place.

2. Adolf Munkel Trail, Val di Funes (South Tyrol)

In second place is the Adolf Munkel trail, which winds at the foot of the Odle, in one of the most photographed and recognizable settings in the Alpine arc.

3. Ring of the 5 Towers (Veneto)

The top 3 is rounded out by the 5 Torri circular route, featuring rocky spires, remnants of the Great War, and extraordinary panoramic views of the Cortina d’Ampezzo valley.

The Annual Report also analyzes the most photographed places by outdoor enthusiasts. The five most photographed in 2025 are:

Rifugio Auronzo, Rifugio LavaredoRifugio VajoletRifugio Locatelli and Rifugio Scoiattoli.

These locations confirm the community’s love for alpine huts and some of the most iconic scenery in the Dolomites, in line with last year’s results.

Overall, over 2 million photos were shared in Italy in 2025, testifying to an intense outdoor experience also from a visual and photographic point of view.

The most popular activities in Italy in 2025

Of the more than 80 activities available on Wikiloc, those that have recorded the highest number of new routes in Italy in 2025 are:

  • walking activities, such as hiking and walking
  • cycling activities, including mountain bikes, road cycling, and e-bikes
  • running-related activities, from road running to trail running

Winter activities are also included in the report. The most popular snow route in 2025 is the snowshoeing route to the Sebastiani Refuge from Campo Felice, in the Sirente Velino and Monti della Duchessa Regional Park (Abruzzo).
