IFCA European Championships Slalom Fin and Foil – First two perfect days of foiling and finning at Circolo Surf Torbole
Danish Johan Søe (DEN 37) leads the Men’s Foil standings, while France’s Justine Lemeteyer (FRA 171) dominates the women’s standings, leading both the Foil and Fin disciplines. Dutchman Jordy Vonk (NED 69) leads the Men’s Fin discipline, followed by Germany’s Nicolas Prien (GER 7) and Malte Reuscher (GER 777).

Torbole, 16 October 2025 – Two days of great entertainment and a variety of conditions for the IFCA European Slalom Fin & Foil Championship, organized by the Circolo Surf Torbole in collaboration with the Italian Sailing Federation and the International Funboard Class Association (IFCA). After the official opening on Tuesday evening, on Wednesday Garda Trentino welcomed approximately 70 athletes from all over Europe with light winds between 9 and 11 knots, perfect for the foil discipline. Two men’s eliminations and six women’s races were held in an intense day that ended at 6:00 pm.
In the Men’s Foil category, the best in the water was Denmark’s Johan Søe (DEN 37), leader with partial times 1-2, ahead of France’s Mathis Alexis (FRA 997) and the Dutchman Bob Burgt (NED 737). Also standing out was Germany’s Fabian Wolf, fourth, fresh from his success at the Formula Foil World Championships, also in Torbole.
Among the women’s Foil category, France’s Justine Lemeteyer (FRA 171) dominated, followed by Slovenia’s Lina Eržen and Spain’s Blanca Alabau. Today, Thursday, the wind was stronger, reaching 13 knots and above, driven by the change in circulation over the North Adriatic with the bora, which strengthened the Ora from the south, allowing the transition to the fin slalom discipline, which requires stronger wind. The program was repeated as on the first day, with two eliminations for the men and six completed women’s races. Among the men, the most consistent was Dutchman Jordy Vonk, now leader of the Fin discipline with a 1st and 3rd place, followed by German Nicolas Prien (2-4) and Malte Reuscher (GER 777), a sailor with a German sail number, but fully Italian and resident on the Island of Elba. Excellent performance also for Frenchman Sacha Fortune, first Youth and fourth overall. Competing for Circolo Surf Torbole were Bruno Martini, who is currently too inconsistent, and some very young athletes usually busy with Techno 293 and iQFoil.
Among the women, Frenchwoman Justine Lemeteyer confirmed her superiority by winning six out of six, ahead of her compatriot Charlotte Philip, first in the Youth category, and Dutchwoman Femke van der Veen, third, just one point behind second place. Great satisfaction for the Circolo Surf Torbole, which, together with the IFCA and FIV, is organizing a top-level technical event at a time of year that still offers mild, windy days, perfect for funboard slalom – something only Garda Trentino can offer. The regattas will continue until Sunday, October 19, with forecasts predicting further bora winds in the Gulf of Trieste tomorrow, which should bring strong southerly winds and therefore ideal conditions to continue the program with the fin slalom races.
