Sarah-Quita Offringa and Yentel Caers are the winners of the Fuerteventura PWA Grand Slam 2025.
Sarah-Quita Offringa overcame a scare in the super final to claim her sixteenth Freestyle World Championships title, her twenty-seventh overall, while Yentel Caers won the event for the second time after 2023.
Yentel Caers spent much of the day waiting after his victory in the knockout. Finally, Caers faced Jacopo Testa, who had come from fourth place in the knockout. Testa did well to climb two places from the knockout, winning first against Takumi Moriya and then against Steven Van Broeckhoven. The Italian nearly matched Caers’ performance with a stunning display on the starboard side, which included an incredible triple spock, but was heavily penalized for failing to complete his scoring on the port side, missing a move and also counting a 3.2-point forward loop. Second place represents Testa’s best ever result in Fuerte, surpassing his third-place finish in 2019.
Yentel Caers, who arrived a few days early to adjust to the conditions, won by 9.3 points. The former two-time world champion executed a perfect Bongka, Shifty, and Pasko on the left side, while Testa missed a maneuver on the left side. In fact, Testa won by five points on the right side. The Italian performed incredible maneuvers, including a perfect triple Spock, but ultimately it wasn’t enough to defeat the Belgian, who is now on track to win another world title.
Steven Van Broeckhoven dropped one place, from second to third, but is still happy to have achieved another podium finish.
