As the cold season arrives, tackling outdoor activities and daily life requires garments capable of adapting to temperature fluctuations and varying levels of physical exertion. For its Fall/Winter 2026 collection, Patagonia focuses on layering and active insulation, combining next-to-skin baselayers with insulating layers designed to manage heat dynamically. It is a system conceived for mountaineering and winter sports, yet equally well-suited for urban life, thanks to an essential aesthetic and a versatility that fits seamlessly into different moments of the day.

Patagonia Capilene Baselayer: breathability and thermoregulation

Heat management begins with the first layer. The Capilene® baselayer line has been updated with a close-fitting—yet non-compressive—cut, designed to promote breathability and move with your body. The range includes three versions, tailored to suit different weather conditions and activity intensity levels.

Capilene® Lightweight is the lightest and fastest-drying model, ideal for wicking away moisture in cool temperatures. Capilene® Midweight, on the other hand, offers a versatile solution; its soft, smooth-faced fabric is designed to retain heat and make layering easy. It is a great choice for both outdoor activities and everyday wear.

When the cold intensifies, Capilene® Thermal Weight provides greater insulation without added bulk, thanks to its highly breathable microfleece fabric. The entire line also features HeiQ® Mint—a natural, plant-based odor-control treatment designed to help you stay feeling fresh for longer.

  • Capilene® Lightweight: the lightest (78 g/m²) and fastest-drying baselayer in the line, designed for heat management in cool conditions.
  • Capilene® Midweight: the most versatile base layer for cool-to-cold conditions (140 g/m²), featuring a small-prism grid pattern designed to trap warm air and speed up drying.
  • Capilene® Thermal Weight: A microfleece base layer that provides highly breathable, low-bulk warmth in cold conditions (153 g/m² Polartec® Power Grid™ fabric). The internal grid pattern traps body heat and rapidly wicks away sweat during high-intensity activities.

Specifications and features

  • Evolution in fit and construction: the new “Fitted” line offers a close-to-body feel without compression. It features an internal taped neckline to prevent chafing, a hanging loop, and minimal, low-profile seams designed to avoid irritation, even during extended wear.
  • Essential technical details: all tops feature low-profile internal thumb loops made from the same fabric as the garment, along with the new, minimalist, vertically oriented Patagonia Belwe logo positioned at the hem to eliminate unnecessary bulk.
  • Natural odor control: HeiQ® Mint technology incorporated into the fabric to ensure long-lasting freshness and reduce the need for frequent washing.

Patagonia Nano-Air Light: active insulation for mountain activities

Complementing the base layer is insulation that adapts to fluctuations in physical exertion. The Nano-Air® Light line—available as a Hoody, Jacket, or Vest—is designed for mountain activities that involve alternating periods of intense movement and rest.

The flexible FullRange™ insulation works in tandem with the stretchy, abrasion-resistant outer fabrics to help dissipate excess heat during exertion and retain warmth when activity slows down. The result is a dynamic insulation system that adapts to changes in pace without the need for constant layering adjustments.

The minimalist design, low-profile volume, and unobtrusive pockets make these garments compatible with backpacks and harnesses. Flexible cuffs also facilitate ventilation, enhancing practicality during outdoor activities. The Nano-Air® Light line thus serves as an ideal midlayer, designed to ensure comfort and freedom of movement even when conditions change rapidly.

In line with its environmental commitment, Patagonia makes its Capilene® Baselayer and Nano-Air® product lines using recycled fabrics and manufactures them in Fair Trade Certified™ facilities.

A complete range for every need.

The collection is anchored by three weights of FullRange® insulation, covering the entire spectrum of use:

  • Nano-Air® (60 grams): a new option suitable for everyday use and for those seeking superior thermal protection without sacrificing breathability.
  • Nano-Air® Light (40 grams): available as a Hoody, Jacket, or Vest—ideal for dynamic mountain sports.
  • Nano-Air® Ultralight (20 grams): an ultralight layer for the most extreme mountaineering pursuits, where every gram counts.
