Great loves need no special occasions to be celebrated. Even those unable to hit the slopes of Val d’Ega in South Tyrol on December 21, 2026—World Snowboard Day—will have an entire season to rekindle their passion. With the lifts now open, this valley in the heart of the Dolomites offers snowboarders a wealth of opportunities: from parks catering to various skill levels to runs perfect for carving new lines, tackling jumps, and trying out tricks across the Obereggen-Latemar Dolomites and Carezza Dolomites ski areas.

The passion for snowboarding also ignites through international competitions. On December 17, 2026, the famous Pra di Tori slope at Costalunga Pass will host the fourth stage of the FIS Alpine Snowboard World Cup, with the sport’s stars ready to face off in spectacular parallel races.

Obereggen-Latemar and Carezza: the snowparks of Val d’Ega

For those eager to experience the mountains firsthand, the Obereggen-Latemar Dolomites area offers a snowpark at an altitude of 2,032 meters, where adrenaline and creativity meet amidst kickers, jumps, boxes, rails, and jib lines. The facilities also include a downhill area, a dedicated boardercross course, a banked slalom track, and one of the few halfpipes in Italy. There are plenty of options for the youngest riders and beginners, too, thanks to the Family Fun Line and the Kids Learn Park. Furthermore, two evenings a week, the “nightpark” extends the fun under the starry sky, offering the chance to ride the slopes at night.

Moving on to Carezza Dolomites, snowboarding takes center stage amidst a landscape that also offers scenic slopes, winter hiking trails, sledding runs, cross-country skiing loops, and ski touring routes. For freestyle enthusiasts, the go-to spot is the Carezza Snowpark, featuring a “Medium Line” that is ideal for testing one’s skills. A standout feature of the facility is the nine-meter-long DFD tank—the only one of its kind in South Tyrol—adding a new dimension for those seeking a winter filled with jumps, technical riding, and fun.
