Game of S.U.R.F. FPT Paros 2025 Day 4 Highlights
As the riders gathered for the last time at the 2025 FPT Paros event site and the Meltemi winds began to blow once again, the stage was set for the final day of the event. After yesterday’s more relaxed and experimental day, the game plan for today was quite similar: change the format and organize an exciting competition.
Today’s format? A Game of Surf.
The “Game of Surf” is a windsurfing twist on the classic “Game of Skate” format, extremely popular in skateboarding, in which two riders compete in a trick battle. One rider begins by performing a freestyle move; if they execute it, the other rider must replicate it. If the second rider fails to perform the same move with a higher score, they receive a letter, starting with “S,” then “U,” and so on until they reach “SURF.” The first rider to achieve all four letters loses. Falls while performing the move also earn riders a letter. The format emphasizes diversity and creativity, with the goal of encouraging riders to attempt difficult or unusual moves under pressure.
From the very beginning, the riders started to get creative. Even before the first heat began, we saw riders getting creative with their warm-ups, with Bodhi Kempen (Severne) practicing with Funnell Clocks before the first heat even began.
The competition got underway, and creativity was ramping up. Eugenio Marconi (Duotone) started his heat against Tigo Kort (JP Australia / Neilpryde) with a Forward Loop and a Culo, both of which the Dutch rider easily replicated. Things got interesting after Marconi pulled off a Shaka Cana Brava, which put him in the lead and allowed him to take the win.
This set the stage for the final: Jacopo Testa versus Lennart Neubauer. The round kicked off with Lennart crashing while setting up a move, handing his turn to Testa and taking the first letter. Continuing the trend of unexpected and creative moves, Japo started with a Switch Clew-First Flaka. After a Shove-It Spock followed by a crash to set up an exit move, Lennart took his turn and applied pressure with a Flaka Punch and a Double Burner to even the score. The situation remained in the balance: it was all or nothing, Jacopo Testa ruled, whoever executes the best move wins. And—in classic Testa fashion—Japo stunned Lennart and the crowd, executing a huge Air Spock that Lennart was unable to match.
Once the competition’s experimental format was concluded and Jacopo Testa was crowned the winner, the competitors took to the water for a few freesailing sessions, while the wind continued to blow until the end of the day. As the sun sank below the horizon, the event winners were crowned, with Lennart Neubauer and Pier Bongianni receiving their trophies and the final applause marking the end of the Freestyle Pro Tour stop in Paros.
